Join Pack 2228!

Welcome to our Pack!

Attached below is a wealth of information which will help de-mystify the new Cub Scout experience, and help answer many questions during the first few meetings! Check it out, come to a meeting, and join the family! Also, attached below you will find fact sheets by rank to help explain each rank in the Cub Scouting program, as well as a printable version of the BSA youth and adult applications.

We are always looking for families to join Cub Scouts any time of the year.

If you are not familiar with scouting: The Cub Scouting adventure begins with Lion & Tiger Cubs - a program of exciting indoor and outdoor activities just right for a scout who is in Kindergarten (Lions are Kindergarten aged or 5 years old by September). A parent or adult partner works with the scout as a support and guide, but you do not do things for them. Your scout will learn by doing things independently. And as he learns and grows through the ranks of Lion, Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and finally "Webelos", the last step in Cub Scouts before your scout "graduates" to Boy Scouts, your relationship will grow, too!

Who can join?

Kindergarten through fifth graders who are interested in having fun, meeting new people and who want to learn new and exciting things are eligible in joining the Cub Scouts of Pack 2228. Those who are enthusiastic about joining can start at any point of the year, but as early as the summer (June) before their next grade where we welcome them as a Cub.

How can you join?

To join, yearly national fees are $33 + optional $12 Boys Life Magazine subscription (highly encouraged) = $45. Note: there will be additional fees for activities, pack operations and outings. Then attend the next pack meeting or activity. Once there, a Pack leader will guide you through the sign-up process. Our pack meetings are held at Herk Bouris Elementary every Tuesday 6:00 pm. If you can’t make a meeting, and you would like to get started sooner, you can e-mail our Membership Coordinator (joinpack2228@gmail.com) and tell us the age of the boy(s). We will get you in touch with a Leader from an age-appropriate Den to get your adventures started.

Note: If you are not from the Quail Valley - Menifee area, visit: www.joinscouting.org to find a pack in your area.

Benefits of joining: Cub Scouts do fun things with other kids! They get to wear a cool uniform, go places and see things. They play a variety of games, sports, learn cool stuff, go on fun field trips, and build things like race cars and birdhouses. We also introduce you to tones of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities.  Would you like to have fun camping and hiking? Make new friends? Want to learn about wild animals? Then join Cub Scouting! Scouting is the best leadership training you can give your child!

Scouting is not just for the boys: For you parents, Scouting is guaranteed quality time with your child, watching them with friends, feeling the satisfaction of accomplishment and success, and being proud to be a part of such a large brotherhood. There are plenty of family events and opportunities to form friendships. You can also join Scouts yourself. Many opportunities exist as a leader in the Den or the Pack as well as other volunteer positions. For a better picture of what to expect from Scouting, read the Parent's Guide To Scouting (https://tinyurl.com/P2228Handbook). Pack 2228 is a very family oriented Pack, and has several family events where siblings are invited and encouraged to participate throughout the year!

Pack Membership Guidelines: Scouting is for the boys, but definitely requires the support, assistance, and cooperation of the parents as well.

Cub Scouting includes a variety of fun and exciting activities for boys in the kindergarten through fifth grades.

Parents of young boys face a lot of choices in after-school activities. Boys want to have fun, while parents want them to learn positive values and skills that will last a lifetime. Cub Scouting may be exactly what you are both looking for.

Generations of American men have participated in and benefited from Cub Scouting, and the experience of serving millions of participants over almost a century has enabled us to make Cub Scouting one of the most exciting and rewarding programs available to your son and your family.

We are so happy that you are interested in Cub Scouting!
